Photonics Engineering Division is nationally and internationally recognized optical group.
The members of PED are Fellows of SPIE-the International Society for Optical Engineering (Profs. M. Kujawinska, K. Patorski, R. Józwicki) and OSA- the Optical Society of America (Prof. K. Patorski).
Prof. M. Kujawinska had been the President of SPIE (2005) and vice- President of ICO – the International Commission for Optics and recently the vice-President of European Technology Platform Photonics21.
PED plays a significant role within the European photonics R&D landscape through:
- co-ordination of the European Network of Excellence (NoE) in Micro-Optics “NEMO” (2008- 2011),
- participation in numerous 5th, 6th and 7FP EU projects (OCMMM, SPOTS, SMARTIEHS, REAL3D, ACTMOST, ACTPHAST, COST Action MP1207),
- being the partner of the European master “OpSciTech: Optics in Science and Technology” which received the Erasmus Mundus quality label from the European Commission. The partners in OpSciTech are: Imperial College, Institut d’Optique, Delft Univ. of Technology, Fredric Schiller Univ. in Jena, University of Eastern Finland.
PED cooperates closely with the Faculty of Physics and Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology at Warsaw University of Technology and with several other Polish research institutes (Wroclaw Univ. of Technology, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow and many others).
PED is also the co-founder of Polish Photonics Technology Platform (www.pptf.pl) and has been collaborating with the industry and SMEs.
